MLW Monday VIA 1981 Old and New
Author: kgmontreal

From the summer of 1981 come a trio of photos taken at the east end of Dorval station.  The FPA-4 pulls a short train from Ottawa.  Following it was an LRC that I think was on test.  By virtue of completeness I've included the third photo from the sequence, the VIA transcon departing for Central Station.

During this time period there were frequent changes and arrangements for how the transcon service departed Montreal.

Outstanding photos; great sharp scans. Always liked the red 'VIA' on the nose.

The first two cars on The Canadian, an Ex-CP baggage and Ex-CN "River" 10-6, were only assigned to this train in 1981. In 1979 and 1980, CN baggage and 24 roomette cars would've been used.
