Back to Night Running
Author: loleta

A few months ago, CN train 546 between North Vancouver and Squamish changed from a night turn out of North Vancouver to an afternoon turn out of Squamish. As the days grew longer, and if the train was on duty early enough, this allowed for some new photo opportunities; though the night job would often return from Squamish in morning light (or later if the crew ran out of hours, as they often did), trains haven't run northbound in daylight for years. Sadly, 546 is returning to its old night schedule as of tonight. But it was fun while it lasted.
1. 2144 north in West Vancouver.
2. A bridge fire at Seton closed the line for a couple of days last week. On this evening, train 546 heads north near Deeks with just two cars of new ties for the bridge.
3. 2975 north between Ambleside and Dundarave.

4. 2522 north making some noise, heading uphill near mile 7.
5. The last train on the daylight schedule, 2522 south at Horseshoe Bay this afternoon, passing one of southern BC's distinctive arbutus trees.

Wonder if the change of train schedule is to accommodate the Rocky Mountaineer or a MoW project??   Doug
