Canadian Railroads > Just hanging' out...

This past long weekend was about the first stretch of really nice weather we have had here in Montreal this spring (temperatures near 30 deg C or 85 F), so it's no surprise that the linear park on both sides of the Lachine Canal was full of cyclists, skateboarders, picnckers and strollers.

The photo shows the bridge that carries the CN main line across the canal in St-Henri. There is a fair amount of unauthorized foot traffic across this bridge on such a day (as many as 30/hour). This particular group of 4 had actually settled in midway across the span for about 10 minutes when this CN track supervisor came along and convinced them to move on.

By the way, the relatively new support on the other side of the original swing bridge's center pier has subsided by about 6", and the track has a significant dip now.
