Canadian Railroads > MLW Monday - A Nun and a Phone BoothDate: 10/17/16 03:46 MLW Monday - A Nun and a Phone Booth Author: kgmontreal This photo is amongst my earliest with a proper SLR camera. It was taken during the summer of 1968 at Dorval, Quebec of a westbound CP freight accelerating away from St Luc yard on its way to Smiths Falls. The three units, a C-630M/RS-18/C-424 combo, are all in the maroon and gray. Dorval station has its order board, a phone booth and a nun on the platform. The image was shot partially back lit on unforgiving Kodachrome X so it's not perfect. But if only we could go back in time.

Doug BTW, KG wonderful shot, captures the moment. Date: 10/17/16 12:51 Re: MLW Monday - A Nun and a Phone Booth Author: zartok-35 I'm glad I'm not like the rest ofthose Millennials. A fine shot, for sure!

History is oh so wonderful, eh? Date: 10/17/16 19:11 Re: MLW Monday - A Nun and a Phone Booth Author: Lackawanna484 Many Ursuline and Notre Dame sisters worked in incredibly remote hamlets in northern Quebec / Ontario. Often for decades at a time. The 1940s issues of Trains magazine occasionally used nuns with their flying nun head gear and priests with their capello romano hats, etc. In the remote far north waiting for the three times weekly mail and passenger train.
