Canadian Railroads > Back to blue skies this afternoonDate: 10/23/16 19:09 Back to blue skies this afternoon Author: Mberry This morning the rain had finally stopped in Montreal, but skies were grey and the wind was outrageous. However the skies cleared after lunch and stayed blue till sunset. I headed to the St-Henri neighbourhood of Montreal to shoot CN 401 and also caught a few VIA's.
1-VIA 6427 leads two LRC cars over the Lachine Canal with what seems to be a deadhead move of some kind. In the background at left is part of downtown Montreal's skyline. 2-CN 2286 & IC 1026 lead a short (70 cars) CN 401 over the Lachine Canal. The train is passing over the supports that held a swing bridge before the old bridge was replaced during the early 1990s. Every fall the canal is partially emptied, allowing the remains to be seen.
