Saturday Surprise
Author: cn6218

After working quite late Friday night, I arose rather late on Saturday morning.  But by some coincidence, 120 was running rather late as well.  And the promised wet weather (which we've had a lot of in November), had not  yet arrived.  A trip out to Windsor Junction at 1 pm revealed the eastward signal showing "clear", and about 5 minutes later 120 rolled into sight near mile 15, sporting BCOL 4652 as the leader.  BC Rail units have been rare enough as leaders down here (rare period!), but since 120  and 121 are almost always DPU trains now, only the last 10 BCOL Dash-9s are are equipped for DPU operation and can therefore lead.

Sunshine today was not a given, but I got lucky for the second image here as the train approached Rockingham Yard on the Transfer Track.  DPU 8835 appears to be another Homewood repaint, where class designations are optional.  Behind 4652 were 2446, 5694 and 4723.  The GP38-2 is in ratty faded striped paint, typical for these locomotives, and will likely curse us as a yard switcher in Rockingham for a while.  I'll find out if they left it here tomorrow morning.

You got particularly lucky in that 4652 was pulled from CN 305 on the Pelletier Sub overnight as 120 had some power issues.

Recently there have been some quite late departures of 120 from Montreal.  Rather than the once typical 0930 departure, 1030 or even 1100 have been common.   And the weather here has not yet been cold.  One has to wonder what will happen in the dead of winter.   One departure this past week had 207 platforms.
