Canadian Railroads > Last Canadian-Built SteamDate: 03/22/17 05:13 Last Canadian-Built Steam Author: SD80MACfan I've tried asking this question in a variety of other places on the Web and I never seem to get an answer, so I'll try here. What were the last steam locomotives built for Canadian Railroads by Montreal Locomotive Works and the Canadian Locomotive Company and when were they built? And if there were any foreign steam engines built by them after that, when were they built? I'm also asking this question in the Steam Railroading thread.

As far as MLW goes, the last steam engines built for Canadian railway's were 2-10-4 Selkirk's for CP. I believe they constructed steam engines for India after that, but don't quote me on that. Not sure about CLC. Michael Date: 03/22/17 07:59 Re: Last Canadian-Built Steam Author: CPR_4000 Mberry Wrote:

As for BCR, it hosted a scheduled mainline steam-hauled excursion service from 1974 to 2000, making well over 2,000 trips during that period. The RS-2 diesels were performing ahead of expectations, and the handwriting was on the wall for steam.
