Freight speed varied between 20, lots of 30 & 35 with some at 40 mph. The Budd cars had a maximum of 65 but quite often it was "hair straight back" on tangent track. BC Rail did have some 50 mph freight speed on the Prince George and Chetwynd subdivisions. CN reduced those speeds to 40 mph for certain rules in OCS "dark territory" such as approaching facing point switches. Also when BC Rail was administered by the Provincial Government, track standards were higher than Federal requirements. When CN took over, the BC Rail track was in excellent condition and by reducing the speed limits, the track would not need much maintenance even it deteriorated to Federal, Transport Canada standards. Greg Yes ,that is Deep Creek bridge, appears the train is northbound, perhaps the VP symbol or NVPG. Mile 330, Prince George subdivision is at the north end of the bridge. Doug |
