If we could have "AMERICAN" cranes down here, I guess it's only natural that you'd have DOMINION cranes up there! Love the shot of No. 100 . . . cleanest ACR unit I've ever seen.

100 had just been delivered back from GMD London after it was rebuilt in kind!

The shot of the Dominion crane is very special. Dominion Engineering of Lachine, Quebec was a Canadian manufacturer of cranes and shovels. The company produced a line of crawler and truck mounted cranes and shovels as well as steam and diesel rail-mounted machines. The crane in the picture was a model called the Dominion Bantam that was intended to compete with the Burro crane. Only a handful were built. The Algoma Central one had a long and successful life. Photos of this model of Dominion crane are quite rare.

By the way, the former Dominion Engineering plant is now partly occupied by CAD Rail, the locomotive rebuilder/repainter.
