This kink in the big trestle at Iricard ended CN's service to Dawson Creek from the east via the Grande Prairie Sub. So BC Rail took over CN's customers in Dawson Creek, until CN's takeover of BC Rail made that arrangement irrelevant--it's all CN now. Still, the track to the south end of town has different mileposts and somehow a different feel, an aura of its different heritage as part of the Northern Alberta Railway. The regular crew on the Dawson Sub. calls it "the dark side."
2. After a 6:00am start, the Dawson crew runs light-engine past the old Dawson Creek depot.
