Canadian Pacific In The Fishing Business?
Author: LKeithR

I have a stash of old magazines that I like to browse through--my kids are gonna hate me when it's
time to clean up after I'm gone. It's a pretty good mix, from trains to cars to outdoor activities,
I've probably got it somewhere. Lately I've been reading some "Outdoor Life" stuff from the late 50s
and early 60s and I came across this ad from the March, 1960 issue. I've never seen anything like it
and I thought it might be of interest here...

Both CP and CN had fishing and hunting lodges, mostly in Ontario. Some where railway owned, others were private operations on contract.

Both railways issued travel brochures for fishing and hunting vacations, and CP ticket agents could make the arrangements for travel and accommodation.

Several well known resorts in "cottage country" were established in the years when railways were the means of access.

CP and CN also operated both mountain camps and guest ranches in BC and Alberta.

Just another example of how "broad" the reach of the railways once was...
