Canadian Railroads > R.I.P. Doney and St-François SpursDate: 10/10/17 08:06 R.I.P. Doney and St-François Spurs Author: Mberry Found in the Montreal Gazette today (don't ask me why it won't post vertically, the attachment was vertical!); CN has filed to discontinue service on the Doney and St-François Spurs in the Montreal area. These lines are planned to be part of the REM rapid transit line to the airport. They serve a number of small customers and are mostly served at night.
Photos of these two spurs can be found in my post from a year ago: https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?15,4119981,4119981#msg-4119981 Michael Berry Date: 10/10/17 08:42 Re: R.I.P. Doney and St-François Spurs Author: kgmontreal Really really unfortunate.
KG Date: 10/10/17 17:21 Re: R.I.P. Doney and St-François Spurs Author: DundasMP23 It doesn't mean their dead. CN issued the same notice for the Burford Spur in Brantford, ON a few years ago. The last customer ended up purchasing the line and contracted Southern Ontario Railway to operate it. Time will tell.

The difference here is that a rapid transit project that the province of Quebec wants to fast track will replace the spurs. Michael |
