Canadian Railroads > VIA operations at OttawaDate: 10/16/17 15:32 VIA operations at Ottawa Author: jbwest Do any trains run through Ottawa (Toronto to Montreal via Ottawa) or do trains turn at Ottawa. I seem to remember some trains between Montreal and Toronto being routed by Ottawa, but the current schedule shows all trains changing train numbers at Ottawa even though the schedule suggests they could be through trains.

VIA seems to have switched from running Montreal-Toronto trains through Ottawa to running many more trains from Ottawa to Quebec City (with a station stop in Montreal mid-route) and vice-versa. For example, VIA 50 and VIA 60 are a J-train out of Toronto, leaving at 0640. In the past both would end up in Montreal (at different times) but now 50 terminates in Ottawa. This was 52/40 in February 2008, passing Bowmanville. The Ottawa and Montreal sections split just west of Brockville station, Date: 10/17/17 16:16 Re: VIA operations at Ottawa Author: 4489 Mberry Wrote:
