New Siemens Charger at night: Bright White Light
Author: Marcus

New Siemens SC-44 Charger WDTX 1404 was on the point of Amtrak Cascades train 517 leaving Vancouver shortly before 6 PM.
The new locomotives have bright headlights, but more striking is the bright white light emanating from the carbody.
The open section containing the cooling towers gives a unique profile.

Wonder why it is kept lit up? Good place for a Christmas tree next month. Ahhh, maybe not.

For some reason, the crews do not turn the engine room lights out. There is a push button in the cab next to the entry door into Machine room 1. Using this button latches the lights on with no time out for turn off. Inside each compartment, there are additional light switches that are on timers, and the lights will automatically go out after about 10 minutes.
