Rarest thing in Montreal-CPR freight train
Author: kgmontreal

CPR runs only eight freight trains a day between Montreal and Toronto (that includes both directions). Most of these are after dark in winter. But today train 112 came east just before noon with a very long train and three units 1+1+1. All three were a different colour with the second unit a new 8100 series rebuild. Here they are at Dorion.

Four trains each way? Wow. When are they going to spin off the MTL-TOR main? To put this in perspective, how many does CN run?

Couldn't tell you exact numbers, but it seems like the CN trains run like streetcars, While CP runs only a couple per day.

Apparently CPR talked to G&W about a spin-off. But G&W wants nothing to do with track shared with AMT commuter trains.

I'd guess maybe 16 per 24 hours in the same corridor.
