Canadian Railroads > SuperC/Canadian at White River,Ontario -- Dec 80Date: 05/19/18 07:59 SuperC/Canadian at White River,Ontario -- Dec 80 Author: gcm I was riding the Super Continental from Vancouver-Toronto.
Here it is (combined with the Canadian at Winnipeg) at the CP station in White River,Ontario. (1-2) Algonquin Park was on the rear - I watched it leave Vancouver on the Canadian. A 3 bedroom 1 drawing room observation with a bar lounge was built by Budd in 1954 for CP. (5) Schedule board Date: 05/19/18 08:00 Re: SuperC/Canadian at White River,Ontario -- Dec 80 Author: gcm (6) The car on the right was one of the daynighter cars (5716) originaly built as a coach by CCF in 1954 for CN.
(7) The diner on this portion of the trip was ex-CN, rebuilt from a parlor-dinnette in 1965 - originally built by P-S in 1954. Wish there was an opportunity to repeat that trip.

If the snowflakes that run that company think there might be snowflakes somewhere along 2,000 miles of line, they cancel the train.

Now on CN it would say "always late" for the Canadian. Oh, for those days again!
Being from the UP of Michigan, boarded the westbound Canadian on CP at White River a time or two. I have been thinking of a railfan trip in winter to that area
but never have the nerve. Thanks!!! Bob Jordan |
