Crossing gates come to the Port of Montreal
Author: Mberry

As those who have seen my posts showing CN trains in the Port of Montreal may recall, Port of Montreal security is required to flag the many crossings in that area. But this will soon change, with crossing gates currently installed at all crossings (but not yet finished or in use just yet). I managed to get the CN transfer leaving the port a couple of times this week.

1-This past Monday the transfer led by CN 7226 is sitting at the western end of Port of Montreal trackage, where it becomes the CN Wharf Spur. It cannot leave until security is in place and gives them the okay to proceeed.

2-In this shot the train is on the move (slowly, 10 mph max on this trackage) as a Port of Montreal truck heads to another crossing, leapfrogging the train in the process.

3-Two days later the transfer is leaving the port light power, passing quite a collection of crossing gates.
