Canadian Railroads > The Canadian Rockies By DaylightDate: 07/14/18 07:12 The Canadian Rockies By Daylight Author: ghCBNS Today's 'Rocky Mountaineer' actually had it's beginnings in VIA's 'Canadian Rockies by Daylight' service launched 30 years ago in summer 1988. The following year it was renamed VIA's 'Rocky Mountaineer' but didn't make it to a third season because of the massive VIA cuts in January 1990....and was sold-off.

And Armstrong was right there to lobby successfully to get the "operation" and ensure VIA was driven right off the rails, to this day and with their own coaches that Armstrong also "got."
