Canadian Railroads > Ship traffic delays commutersDate: 07/21/18 17:07 Ship traffic delays commuters Author: Ray_Murphy Picture #1 shows Friday afternoon’s Montreal EXO/RTM Candiac line commuter train #81 inching its way out onto the St Lawrence River bridge after its [on time] station stop at Lasalle. It came to a complete stop just a few car lengths ahead of where it is in the photo. A ship’s horn from the other side of the river provided the reason: maritime traffic in the St Lawrence Seaway.
Eventually the train advanced across the main spans and waited on the south side of the river while the Seaway bridge was open to permit the ship to pass (Picture #2, train to the left of the artwork, open lift bridge to the right). The total length of the delay for the commuters? About 25 minutes. The following train, #83, was also delayed a few minutes. The pictures were taken from Parc Rene-Levesque in Lachine, hence the “artwork” in Picture #2. Ray Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/21/18 17:07 by Ray_Murphy.
