Tempo “In Tune with the Times”
Author: ghCBNS

It’s 50 years ago this summer that CN acquired a 25 car fleet of Tempo equipment from Hawker-Siddeley. MLW RS-18 locomotives were rebuilt with elongated short-hoods to house HEP equipment to power the cars. The trains ran in Southwestern Ontario between Toronto-London-Sarnia-Windsor.

Terrible. Another problem was the lack of insulation. Air conditioning and heating faliures were common on this junk. A CN employee  friend, despite having a free pass, used to pay to ride the CPR RDC on the Toronto-London-Windsor route.
