Huron Central operations in Sudbury.
Author: march_hare

I encountered an HC train switching the yard at the station in downtown Sudbury today. The train then departed eastward along the CP mainline. Does HC have another operation east of here?  Or do they go out to interchange with CN?

Huron Central runs from Sault St Marie to Sudbury daily . They also go from Sudbury to Espanola to switch the paper mill.
Not sure what one you saw but the Espanola switcher usually leaves Sudbury at 8-9 am and returns about 3-5 pm. Not sure of the thru freight schedule???

It looks like G&W has trackage rights to connect the Huron Central in Sudbury with the Ottawa Valley to the east which may be why you saw the train go east out of Sudbury.
