Canadian Railroads > GEXR leased segment reverts to CNDate: 11/21/18 09:42 GEXR leased segment reverts to CN Author: 251F https://www.railwayage.com/freight/short-lines-regionals/gexr-leased-segment-reverts-to-cn/
Forgive me if this has been posted. Is it increased traffic causing CN to take back these leases? Is it a performance problem with the operator? Or is it the operator not willing to renew the lease? d. Date: 11/21/18 14:52 Re: GEXR leased segment reverts to CN Author: cn6218 It has been speculated that G&W wasn't happy about hosting VIA and GO trains on "their" tracks. On the surface that doesn't seem like a problem. Getting somebody else to maintain your track to a higher than needed standard seems like desireable business model. Perhaps they don't like playing second fiddle (dispatching wise) to passenger trains.
In fact, the track between Kitchener and Georgetown is now owned by Metrolinx. GTD |
