Canadian Railroads > on this dayDate: 11/24/18 04:40 on this day Author: hoggerdoug November 24, 2008, some images from the cab of BCOL 4648 on train 570 heading south from Prince George BC to Williams Lake on the BC Rail Prince George subdivision. The Dash 9 locomotives including the 4648 were perhaps my favorite loco to operate.
images: 01 view of the office, looking at the CDU shows 65 psi on the tail end and judging by the position of the automatic brake valve handle we were doing a brake test. Also below the speedometer our TGBO is clipped for easy access. Right of that is a nice spot for my instant coffee, thermo mug, smokes and another essential roll of paper. 02 oops, a "selfie" 03 room with a view Date: 11/24/18 04:43 Re: on this day Author: hoggerdoug 04 on our way and a quick glance at the side mirror
05 descending 1 percent grade near the bridge over Stone Creek 06 looking back after crossing the bridge, lead unit near Stoner, mile 443.9 Date: 11/24/18 04:46 Re: on this day Author: hoggerdoug 07 along the way
08 approaching Crysdale siding 09 bridge over Hwy 97 at mile 441.2, north switch Crysdale a few hundred feet beyond Date: 11/24/18 04:53 Re: on this day Author: hoggerdoug 10 glance back on the train at the south switch Crysdale
11 south switch Colebank, doing some work at Pinnacle Pellet and we access the plant from the south end of the siding. Switch is electrically heated as well a yard light. 12 at Quesnel, doing set out and pickup. CDU shows 10,760 feet and zero pressure on the tail end. Quesnel could be an awkward place to work, have the clear the "Church" crossing and perhaps to hang on to and hide some excess cars to clear the crossing, then quite often make a set out in two or more tracks plus pickup more cars from other tracks. WE called Quesnel, malfunction junction. Date: 11/24/18 04:57 Re: on this day Author: hoggerdoug 13 Quesnel River bridge at Quesnel
14 taken at Gibraltar while picking up copper concentrate, CDU shows our new length at 6565 feet, zero air pressure 15 electronic display, showing various air pressures. thanks for looking.
