Canadian Railroads > on this dayDate: 12/14/18 03:31 on this day Author: hoggerdoug or rather on this evening, December 14, 2008, train 570 south bound on the BC Rail Prince George sub
first video near mile 392 south of Barlow. The tail end is still on 2.2 percent grade and I'm pulling across "Barlow flat" and will soon be on 2.2 percent descending grade again. Had a good braking train this day. second clip, shows the Locotrol II panel, remote unit is cut-in back in the train, and the CDU display. Showing 83 psi on the locotrol unit and 76 psi on the SBU on the tail end, working with a gradient on the brake pipe. Also the odometer is counting down so I know when the rear of the train tips over the grade. We are a few miles north of Quesnel and for anyone familiar with the area, this is were the power lines cross highway 97 and the railway right of way. Approaching Quesnel could be a challenge on the heavy descending grade. Quite often we would have a protect against restriction for the belt-pack yard crew at Quesnel as well as restrictions at the north and south siding switches. It was a fine balancing act with the air and dynamic brake. third clip at Quesnel, two Conductors yakking on the radio. You must be a registered subscriber to watch videos. Join Today!
