Siemens seeks Canadian suppliers for $989 million VIA contract
Author: Marcus

Siemens is looking for Canadian suppliers for its $989 million contract
to renew VIA Rail's Central Canadian Corridor equipment with 32 new trainsets.
Siemens committed to 20 percent Canadian content in supplies and services.

"Siemens is dedicated to delivering accessible, high quality trains, while meeting the time schedule."

"Siemens is committed to a fair and transparent sourcing process.
Selection of suppliers will be based on the total cost of ownership, quality and delivery schedule.
As part of this process, two procurement offices have been set up in Montreal, Quebec and Oakville, Ontario."

"Qualified applicants will also be considered for other Siemens projects where relevant."

The 2nd link says they will start to retire part of the current fleet in 2019. That sounds much too soon.
