Canadian Railroads > Another Laggan DerailmentDate: 03/01/19 06:09 Another Laggan Derailment Author: mp35mountain I'm seeing reports of another Laggan derailment sometime yesterday afternoon. Supposedly 20 cars on the ground including 10 autoracks west of Banff. Anyone know where exactly.

That's a bit west of where the BV Parkway begins and the TCH crosses over the tracks and the river and goes to the other side of the valley. Can't be seen from either TCH or BV Pkwy.
Train 401 - Calgary - Vancouver manifest 10 empty autoracks and 10 loaded grain Date: 03/01/19 07:36 Re: Another Laggan Derailment Author: mp35mountain So between the Hwy 1 overpass and the old siding of Sawback. The location is pretty much next to the Bow River isn't it?

The river meanders quite a bit in that area so sometimes it's trackside and sometimes not. I recall an intermodal train derailing in the same area in 1995 or 1996. I checked for a TSB report and there isn't one. I do recall that it was an eastbound and at least one container ended up inthe river. It was loaded with cans of salmon. I was the chair of the Transportation sector at the Bow Valley Study Round Table at the time. One of the environmental sectors wanted me to remind CP that importing non-native fish into National Parks waters was illegal. I was drinking coffee when I read the thing about the cans of salmon. Lol
