Canadian Railroads > Canada Adventure Day 4: Day 1 on The Ontario NorthlandDate: 03/21/19 07:35 Canada Adventure Day 4: Day 1 on The Ontario Northland Author: Ohiorailfan For many years my friend and I have wanted to fan the ONT, but never had the chance to go that far in Canada till now. After our days on the OSR we made the 500 mile jump to Cochrane where we started our day on the 13th. Our morning started with the morning Polar Bear train #421 with ONT 1809 and 1806 as power. We got a few shots around the Cochrane depot and a couple just north of town. We then went looking for the 514 near Kapsukasing. When we got close to Kaps. we heard the 514 leaving heading east. Power for the train was GP40-2's #2202 and 2200. We followed the train all the way to Smooth Rock Falls before breaking off to find the 213. We headed straight to Swastika and after a few minute wait the 213 came by with uniquely painted 2105 solo. We knew 211 would be next so we sat just north of town and waited. It was supposed to have the heritage leading, but instead the 2102 led. It was still a wonderful chase from Swastika to Royun Noranda, Quebec. Stay tuned for the remaining 2 days. This was one of my favorite railroads I have the privelage of photographing. Enjoy!!
