'New' Steam in Alberta
Author: Parkcar

A little tongue-in-cheek but still.....Ex CN 5080, a 1914-constructed Pacific that was on display in Prince Alberta Saskatchewan for many decades, has moved its wheels once more, this time to Alberta.  After efforts in Prince Albert to overhaul and possibly operate the locomotive failed to come to fruition, about 8 years of negotiations resulted in a sale and transfer to Mosseigh Alberta and the Aspen Crossing Railway.  Newly arrived in Alberta by truck yesterday (Mar 21), the locomotive was offloaded to Aspen Crossing Railway trackage at the hamlet of Mossleight Alberta, just southeast of Calgary.  Seen in these pics is freshly landed on rails in Mossleigh, as the tender is lifted second and placed behind the locomotive.

Aspen Crossing is an award-winning train themed destination that is fast becoming a true rural gem in Southern Alberta.
www.aspencrossing.com for more info.
Showcasing the stunning Alberta prairie landscapes, the Aspen Crossing Railway offers 11 different themed train tours. There’s a travel experience to appeal to everyone! You can also enjoy the historical 1887 Pullman dining car restaurant, Escape Rooms, Tavern, 3 beautifully retrofitted Caboose Cabins or well treed and big rig friendly campground.

CN 5080 complements diesel electrics ex CP1624 (GP9r) and ex CN 5484 (MLW S-3).  Plans for 5080 call for a renovation over the next several years. The pilot was removed and hauled separately, the exhaust stack trimmed due to height restrictions.
Cheers

After all wheels had landed..... and a little visual effect in the stack.  3 vintage elevators in the background and boxcars to set the scene.
