Canadian Railroads > Montreal: Mount-Royal/Canora StationDate: 07/11/19 17:18 Montreal: Mount-Royal/Canora Station Author: Ray_Murphy Montreal’s REM light-rail construction project continues to affect the AMT-RTM-EXO (take your pick) Deux-Montagnes commuter line under Mount-Royal. Since May 21st, operations have switched over to using only the southbound track through the Town of Mount Royal, and both the Mount-Royal and Canora stations have been replaced by a temporary one located between the two (Picture #1).
Picture #2 shows Mascouche line train #1207 just leaving the new Mount-Royal/Canora stop. Moving to the footbridge near the other end of the temporary station, Picture #3 shows the “not in public timetable” deadhead EMU train #952 picking up a few people (probably employees) at the station. Next, we see the ALP-45DP-powered trainset that operates some of the services on the Deux Montagnes line (Picture #4, outbound Train #949). Locomotives #1352 and #1362 are bracketing the 12-car trainset. The last picture shows outbound EMU train #951 moving through the construction site that was once the Canora station. Apparently all normal train service on this line comes to an end at the end of this year. The tunnel will be completely closed for two years for the REM track/in-tunnel stations/power and signalling installations. Ray Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/11/19 17:19 by Ray_Murphy. Does anyone know of an video which has the sound of those horns? I once, tried, without success looking for such a video on the Internet.

Nobody really knows. It's actually a subject that's in the news these days: "why hasn't the REM/RTM done an impact study on the pending closure of the Mount-Royal Tunnel?" (or, "maybe they have and don't want to publicize the results"). Ray Date: 07/13/19 14:33 Re: Montreal: Mount-Royal/Canora Station Author: joemvcnj I think this whole REM thing is such a boondoggle. Run the Two Mountains and CP line trains to Dorval more often, do some track ROW expansion and run LRT from Bonaventure over the Champlain Bridge to Brossard, rather than a big fat C$5.6 billion mess with 2 years of doubled commute times and NYC-like crush crowds on Metro.
