Canadian Railroads > A face only a mother could loveDate: 09/12/19 00:03 A face only a mother could love Author: xcnsnake Having missed catching Norm and TIOGA PASS roll through Field a few days earlier (RR duty called), the afternoon/early evening of Sept. 11 found this CN Locomotive Engineer deep in CP territory as I was on 23 hours personal rest and took a quick drive down the Icefields Parkway from Jasper to Banff to rendezvous with a seller on a bike purchase. On the way home I thought I'd take a portion of the pastoral 2-lane of the Bow Valley Parkway (that more or less parallels the CP Laggan Sub.) from Castle Junction heading west. Passing near what I believe was Eldon I thought I caught a glimpse of something approximating armour yellow through the trees... behold one of CP's MoW trains, I believe manufactured by Relco, tied up for the night.

That looks like a flat car modification, with the freight car trucks and fishbelly frame.

Currently two trains in service.... The power unit on THE OTHER END OF THE TRAIN was built from a geep. Date: 09/14/19 09:52 Re: A face only a mother could love Author: 462pacific Interesting. The attached photos show a very similar HERZOG setup that was here in Redding, CA last week.
Sure makes for a different show than usual. I assume that the train is utilized for picking up used wooden ties. I note that there are two apparent sources of power one front and one rear. Further the units are stenciled for attachment to the rear of any other train.
