CP 5645 is eastbound just east of Bayview Junction, Ontario on June 17, 1980.
1.) Closer crop
2.) Full scene

As much as I love me some 5" stripe, the tarped stake-bed trailer on the flat really catches my eye; that's vintage.

Both views are well composed.  My preference is for the panoramic view.
Those SD40-2's look sharp and the tarp covered trailer adds interest.
Thamks for the nice photo posting.

What was CP doing on the CN main line (or do I have my geography mixed up somehow)?

IIRC, CP had and utilized long standing trackage rights from Hamilton Jct up to some point in the Toronto area. I seem to remember CP moves were relatively common until into the 2000's..I don't know why they ceased but it appears everything runs up the branch to the CP mainline at Campbellville now. Hopefully some more knowledgable locals can fill in the gaps in my spotty info.

I don't know all the details, but I think it had something to do with the increasing GO Train commuter traffic on the line between Burlington and Toronto.
