Miserable Alberta Monday's-Running Back To Saskatoon
Author: arwye

Forty five years ago, well before CN & CP decided to denude Alberta of its rail network,  you could catch #315 early in the afternoon "running back to Saskatoon". On this bitterly cold and dry January 1974 day, a trio of GP9's led by 4332 blast their way out of Calgary's Sarcee Yard, kicking up a plume of snow and leaving a trail of diesel exhaust. The “Goose Lake line” trains were a fantastic and diverse operation back on the day. It’s said CN hauled more meat traffic out of Calgary than CP did because their route had better transit times.
