Miserable Alberta Monday's-Got the train & location-had the sun.
Author: arwye

All you photographers out there know what this is called. You've got the location, train is coming, sky is mostly clear and then you get screwed. Our Calgary railfan crew was out roaming around looking for action on Saturday February 9th, 1974. Train #992-Alyth to Lethbridge was running late giving us the opportunity for this location at Dewinton. SD40-2's 5604-5810 & 5811 were in charge that day. Then it literally all went south. Richard Yaremko

Been there, done that, you know the rest. But I have to tell you, despite the cloud screw that's a great photo, good job on the scan, thanks for posting it.

Interesting location. What lens is being used, normal, tele,...? Looks like the snow covered mountains could use some telephoto help.

Yep, cloud screw is an appropriate description. t4p.

In early 1974 I don't think I had my 85mm yet. So this would have been taken with my Pentax Spotmatic and its standard 55mm lens. I've cropped some foreground to pull the scene in a little more.
