Canadian Railroads > MLW Monday - Gypsum EditionDate: 03/30/20 17:25 MLW Monday - Gypsum Edition Author: cn6218 On November 4, 2004 the Windsor & Hantsport gypsum train was heading east in the late afternoon sun with another empty train at Falmouth, NS. This was the ruling grade for loaded trains going west, but the 3 RS-23s are just coasting now. At this late date 8046, the only RS-23 to be repainted by the WHRC, has finally been given a stack extension to try and keep exhaust fumes out of the cab, but it still appears not to have any ditch lights like the other units.
Half an hour later, the power was at the Wentworth mine (known as Dimocks on the railway). While the Millers Creek mine produced most of the gypsum, Wentworth had a very bright white variety of rock. This was the stuff that shipped out in CN hoppers by rail to Ontario.
