Canadian Railroads > Looking For the LightDate: 06/17/20 08:10 Looking For the Light Author: cn6218 Normally you wouldn't even think of getting morning light on the nose of a westbound train, but there are a number of places on the Bedford Sub where that goal is a tantalizing possibility. The Subdivision's east end is Halifax, which is both south and west of Truro, the west end and junction with the Springhill and CBNS' Hopewell Subs. With an early 407 out of Dartmouth, on the longest day of the year, I thought I might be able to make it work in Windsor Jct. (same location as the first photo from yesterday). Here's 5727 at 06:56 on June 20, 2005 with autoracks from Dartmouth, NS. All that power isn't needed right now, but there will be a pickup in Truro from the CBNS that will put it to good use climbing Folly Mountain.
As you can see, I only half-achieved my goal, but it was another location to cross off the list. GTD |
