Asphalt at the Bedford Quarry
Author: cn6218

I mentioned asphalt tankers on 120 a few days ago, and here they are being delivered to General Liquids Canada, at the Bedford Quarry on June 30th, about mile 13 of the Bedford Sub, just outside Halifax.

Local 507 has had a rather lopsided set of power lately, with the one GP9RM they haven't managed to set on fire yet, 4135, and GP40-2L 9523, which is trying hard to hide its identity.  In the first frame they've pulled past the switch into General Liquids and are being reflected in the small pond which the track cuts across.  The location gets its name from a number of historical and current quarries in the area.  There is plenty of rock in Nova Scotia, so the builders of the original Intercolonial Railway didn't have to go very far here for material, and neither do current contractors building roads or other projects.  In the second frame, 507 is blocking traffic as they spot cars on one of the two tracks.  There are two tracks, each of which can hold 5 or 6 cars, and 507 filled them both up this day.  In the background on the mainline, are propane tankers which will be spotted at the "old" Quarry, about a quarter mile farther east.

Somebody should start a gofundme campaign to paint that lead unit.
