Canadian Railroads > Just As Old Now!Date: 07/13/20 05:47 Just As Old Now! Author: ghCBNS When VIA began replacing the MLW FPA-4's on the Atlanticwith new F40's in 1987 they were nearly 30 years old. Now those F40's are just as old or older! The F40's were rebuilt 10 years ago and will be in service for a few years yet but some of those now 60 year old FPA-4's may get the last laugh as several are still in service in the US.

Yes.....the Railiner would arrive from Halifax.....connect with the e/b Atlantic then continue onto Cape Breton. Date: 07/13/20 13:56 Re: Just As Old Now! Author: andersonb109 They should last longer now that VIA has decided to largely exit the passenger train business while Amtrak continues to run most services albiet some on a reduced frequency.

Then perhaps VIA might get an extra 8 or so months out of them! But why don't you just give it a break! Travel is returning and VIA is gradually increasing service. Ontario, population 14.5 million and a hub for VIA recorded only 116 new cases of Covid today......where it's out of control in the US. |
