They are now touting the service by media release. Posted on August 11, 2020, "Today, CP debuted its first international intermodal service through the Port of Saint John, N.B. The westbound train carries containers from the vessel Detroit Express headed to Canadian and U.S. destinations." "CP originated westbound train 251-11 this morning for the Montreal region at Brownville Junction, Maine, with the first Port of Saint John containers on connection from the New Brunswick Southern (NBSR) and Eastern Maine (EMRY) railways. The first eastbound intermodal train to the Port of Saint John departed Montreal on Friday, Aug. 7." "CP's route is the shortest between Atlantic Canada and key North American markets. Date: 08/11/20 14:11 Re: CP proud of first big intermodal trains from Saint John, NB Author: MP403 I think they are getting this traffic in Saint John now because of the labor strife at the Port of Montreal. The ship that brought the boxes to Saint John was diverted from Montreal. So it doesn't appear this will be a regular move, at least not yet. Still good to see intermodal trains running from Montreal to Saint John and across the old CP main to Atlantic Canada.
