CN Getting In on the Action Too
Author: cn6218

It's not just CP that's benefiting from the labour strife in Montreal.  CN has been running extra trains to and from Halifax.  On Tuesday, two 120s arrived during daylight, and the first 121 to depart left at about 19:40, roughly an hour earlier than 121 usually gets away.  It's shown here at Moirs Mills in Bedford, with 2929 and 3008 up front, and 2915 as the tail end DPU.  This particular train was 10,173 feet long, and was all intermodal (no junk).  The second 121 that night ran conventional, and only picked up two tracks, likely about 7000 ft. total.

There are two more 120s on the road now between Moncton and Halifax, with two more 121s planned for this evening.  One of those should leave before dark if things go according to plan.  Many, if not all, the crews who were laid off have also been recalled, which is good news.  I heard voices on the scanner yesterday that I haven't heard since the last conductors' class was qualified - a year ago.
