Canadian Railroads > And an Unconventional 120Date: 08/15/20 06:09 And an Unconventional 120 Author: cn6218 Although most trains into Halifax lately haven't used a DPU, August 6th saw 120 arrive with not just one, but two. 8955 and 5777 led the train as it entered the Transfer Track fom the main line at Millview, and 8939 was the mid-train DPU. SD70ACe 8100 was on the tail end as the train rolled past Birch Cove on the shore of the Bedford Basin. Interestingly, 8100 does not have red "marker" lights like other DPU equipped locomotives on CN, and they didn't hang an SBU on the rear either.
Also uncommon was the fact that there were no GE locomotives powering the train. This train had over 700 axles when it went through Quebec. Cars are usually set off and picked up in Moncton though, so that number may have changed a bit by the time it arrived here. Andy Date: 08/19/20 13:22 Re: And an Unconventional 120 Author: cn6218 The train was mostly intermodal, but there were a handful of old gons used for sending gypsum to New Brunswick. They would have been added in Moncton.
