Most of which were rebuilt from GP9 or MLW locomotives. (The 200 series is paired with a transition equipped unit such as a 7200 series GP9 or SD40u). 500 series HBU-4s have a similar electrical system to the GP38-2/GP40, and are paired with a 7500 series GP38-2.

It could have been one of the low-200 series, or 500-series HBU-4 or YBU-4 slugs built new by GMD. The ex-GP9 slugs are longer, one extra handrail stanchion and 11 spaced instead of 10. Fred Date: 08/31/20 16:58 Re: CN slug at progress rail Tacoma Wa Author: cvrrr Will the mother be painted in the same scheme? If it is would this a change in the paint for other units?

It's an interesting development, whatever colour it is. I think the 200- and 500-series slugs also differed in having DC vs. AC blower motors, to match the unit powering them. Is CN starting a heritage fleet? EDITED TO ADD: I've learned that the work involves creating two mother-slug sets, to be numbered 7600-600 and 7601-601. Edited 1 time(s).
