Canadian Railroads > When Two Units Aren't EnoughDate: 09/26/20 14:41 When Two Units Aren't Enough Author: Blackfoot When two units aren't enough, then you need a DPU, even on a one car train. I didn't have my scanner with me, but the ATCS Monitor showed this coming off the MacTier Sub, then backing into West Toronto yard around 2:30 this afternoon. An hour later I caught it passing Howland Avenue. My best guess is that it's train 100, which would have dropped most of it's train at Vaughn Intermodal, and then worked West Toronto before heading to Toronto yard with it's one remaining car.

But then I chuckle when trying to imagine what the average Joe Civilian would think when he saw this from his car at some crossing! Too funny... :^)
Lance/199 Date: 09/26/20 21:48 Re: When Two Units Aren't Enough Author: Finderskeepers Because the train originated as a DPU train, it never had an SBU on the tail end, and there are never enough of them to go around. What you are seeing here is a locomotive being used as an SBU, while the single car is going to Hansen Car Forwarding at Toronto yard.

That is indeed some of the power of Train 100-22, which had five units on departure from Vancouver Intermodal Facility.
