Canadian Railroads > A few more from New GlasgowDate: 11/28/20 07:13 A few more from New Glasgow Author: ghCBNS Here's a few more from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.....
-A close up on the Business Car in the photo I posted in the other thread....and just guessing here it might have been carrying CN Officials checking in on an order being produced at the Hawker Siddeley railcar plant in Trenton. September 1974 -VIA #19 a.k.a the 'Cabot' crossing the East River from New Glasgow to Stellarton in April 1979 -VIA 'Railiner' e/b to Sydney in June 1982. Date: 11/28/20 07:14 Re: A few more from New Glasgow Author: ghCBNS The tracks through the downtown were elevated. The two buildings of Goodmans Department Store (white bldg on right) were split by the tracks and had a interior passageway under the tracks connecting the two.

New Glasgow and Stellarton were only 2 miles apart and it was decided a new combined station would be built midway between the two towns. The new station opened in June 1988 and was only used for a year and a half before VIA ended all service between Truro and Sydney in January 1990. The building still stands today along the CB&CNS tracks on the Museum of Industry site:
