11/30/1968 - CN
Author: refarkas

(These are better redos.) Yesterday in the Nostalgia Discussion, I posted a C&O E8 at Toledo Union Station and told how our original destination was Toledo, Ohio but that we ventured on to London, Ontario. We had heard that there were CN CLC C-Liners in the CN Reclamation Yard in London. Actually they were hulks, but these were the only CN C-Liners I saw. As nobody was there at the reclamation yard on Saturday November 30, 1968, I quickly took photos and left.

2.) CN 6801
3.) CN 9308

Get 'em while you can.  The snow really adds the look of gloom in these pictures.

Some of the C-Liners seem to be missing the dynamic brake (?) section from the roof.  Were these salvageable for something?  I think CN's CLCs were all retired before the end of the '60s, so they wouldn't be robbing parts for units still running.  Maybe CP was buying some spare parts?

They built a load test box that sat at Spadina for many years, with some obvious CLC heritage to it. I ran a thread with it a few years back, at https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?15,4694173,4694366#msg-4694366. It was inspired by a hoggerdoug post. All those components had A unit material, so that doesn't account for the cannibalized B.
