CP Rail E8 1802 on the e/b Atlantic Limited....ready to depart Windsor Station, Montreal for Saint John, New Brunswick in March 1975

Early the next morning the Atlantic Limited has just re-entered Canada at McAdam, New Brunswick after crossing through the United States overnight.

CP originally bought three E8s and used them in a pool with the Boston and Maine Railroad between Montreal and Boston. 1801 was wrecked but the other two eventually went to VIA.

These were the only E8s owned by a Canadian railway but E units of Great Northern, New York Central, Penn Central, Erie-Lackawanna and Amtrak were regularly used in passenger service in Canada.

They were rarely caught in Canada because they were very elusive...  Very simple, really.

I believe he was asking why they only sold three in Canada.
