Canadian Railroads > Dropping RailDate: 02/25/21 06:32 Dropping Rail Author: cn6218 On June 1, 2013, CN track crews were busy dropping welding rail along the Dartmouth Sub in Nova Scotia. This section of track carries the frequent and heavy gypsum trains, so much of it, particularly the curves, is laid with 136 lb. rail.
The work train had been parked in the Burnside Yard overnight, and in the first picture GP38-2 4717 and GP9RM 4125 were backing the train out the west end of the yard (about mile 8) to go to work. An hour or so later I walked into the woods of the Dartmouth Sub to shoot them again near mile 3 as they slowly unthreaded the strands of steel. GTD |
