Canadian Railroads > A Rolling Meet at Sandy CoveDate: 02/28/21 08:00 A Rolling Meet at Sandy Cove Author: cn6218 On February 5, 2021 the RTC was extra sharp, setting up a rolling meet between the gypsum train and 407 at Sandy Cove Siding, near Grand Lake, Nova Scotia.
The loaded gypsum train, 511, returning from the mine was first, starting into the siding at 11:59. Two minutes later, 407, the daily manifest from Dartmouth to Moncton, NB appeared around the curve, slowly moving down the main line towards a stop signal at the west end. At 12:05, 511 was completely in the hole, the signal changed to "clear", and 407 throttled up to continue the journey to Truro, and then eventually Moncton.
