Canadian Railroads > 2 point 2 grind

May 1, 2007, slogging up BC Rail Cotwood Hill north of Quesnel.  It was a nice afternoon for a train ride, usually we had a late evening in the dark trip up the grade. We were not complaining about the daylight trip. Cotwood Hill was about ten miles long, grade varied between 2 percent, 2.2 percent along with some short 2.5 percent sections.

1, looking back on the train, the covered gondolas were loaded with copper concentrate from Gibraltar Mine. Recently Gibraltar did a big blast in the open pit and it registered as a 2.6 earthquake.

2: load meter at a steady 1200 amps.

3: Mile 396 and top of the grade is just ahead.
