The morning newspaper reports that the formet Melinda Gates now is the owner of more than 14 million shares of CN.  The Gates were the largest holder of CN
stock, and, at one point,  the Gates and their foundation may held as much as 20% of CN stock.  Will Melinda Gates become a hands one owner of the CN?
Are there any reports in the Montreal press of her planning to move to Montreal to keep tabs on the railroad in which she is the largest stockholder?

Funny, Russian billionaires are called Oligarch's, sounds much more sinister.  Not a progressive in US politics but if there would be a way to tax the heck out of some of thse people I'd be all for it.  Hey Bill thought he was a Covid expert, and education expert, and social justive expert so why can't she run a railroad?

She is not CN's largest stockholder. Bill remains the largest through his personal investment company, Cascade Investment, which still owns 101 million shares, worth $13.5 billion. Cascade's manager, Justin Howell, took a seat on the board on April 27.

Melinda now has 14 million shares, worth $1.8 billion, making her sixth largest. Those were transferred from Cascade from its earlier holding of 115 million shares.

The holding of 13.9 million shares owned by the Gates charitable foundation remains separate and intact.

   Thanks for the information.  The Gates and their foundatiion still control a reasonably large share of CN stock.
