Canadian Railroads > Diefenbaker Funeral TrainDate: 07/27/21 08:27 Diefenbaker Funeral Train Author: CNStratford August 19 1979-Ottawa ON Station-
Picture 1-Military salute as Diefenbaker's body is loaded into baggage car. Picture 2-Just west of the station. RCMP headquarters in background. Yesterday I went over to this location. Much has changed including special protection on the signal poles so intrepid photographers can no longer go up to get such shots. Picture 3 - Baggage car containing Diefenbaker's body. These photos provide an excellent look at some of the rolling stock included in this notoriously under documented historic train! We have a Cape sleeper lounge, a Bay sleeper, and Diner in addition to the balance of the government business car fleet.

I did find out elsewhere that the slide I posted was inaccurately labeled. It was shot by an American, in the collection of an American and I'm knda sorta American (43 years an expat Canadian) so none of us were in a good position to question.
